You’re engaged, you’ve just started planning your wedding and someone asks “what about stationery?”
Most couples will be familiar with the most popular items such as save the dates and invitations, which is a great start! These are the first items that your guests will see and will set the tone of the day; they might reflect your personality or chosen theme.
The items couples mostly forget are in the ‘on the day stationery’ bracket.
This includes items such as menus and placecards for the tables, gifts tags for items such as favours or bridesmaid/groomsmen gifts and, the all important order of service!
Other items to consider are your table plan and table numbers/names to help your guests find their seats. And perhaps some signage, for your designated gift area, personalised bar menu or dessert selection. Some couples also choose to have an area to remember those who cannot be with them on their special day.
Lastly, you’re only doing this once, so think about the items you or your close family members might wish to keep. A venue or bouquet illustration is the perfect reminder of your day, as is a framed invitation suite, a print of your bespoke map or even your own personalised wax seal stamp.
My top tip – write a list and star the items that are important to you both then, talk through the options with your stationery designer so that you can consider your budget for all of your stationery; because it is not just invitations!
